Crafting with Purpose: Kindness Totes for Moore's Cancer Center

Learn how to sew a customizable tote bag! This class is appropriate for beginning and advanced seamsters, but is designed as a basic introduction to machine sewing. In this class, we well cover basic sewing machine practice (set up, maintenance, and habits) and how to sew basic seams. As a warm-up exercise, attendees will create a simple drawstring pouch to keep, and then move onto sewing a Tote Bag. At the end of the class, attendees will receive instructions to use their new sewing skills to make more tote bags at home.

Tote bags created in workshop will be donated to the UCSD Moores Cancer Center, filled with care and comfort items for newly diagnosed patients who visit the Patient and Family Resource Center (PFRC)*.

**Attendees must bring their own sewing machine and a pair of scissors. All other supplies provided. Don't own a machine? Send an email to janelle@deardaydream.com to coordinate a loaner machine.

Class is open to adults and children ages 7 and up.
